Band
1. Music. A group of players who perform as an ensemble. The band played
marching music.
2. A thin strip of flexible material used to encircle and bind on object or to
hold a number of objects together. We placed a rubber band around the papers.
3. A strip or stripe that contrasts with something else in color, texture, or
material. A single band of white trimmed the hem of her dress.
4. A single ungrooved ring, especially a wedding ring. My wife has a golden
band on her finger.
5. An organized group of criminals or wrongdoers. The band used guns to rob
that bank.
6. A small number of individuals. A band of girls gathered at the library.
7. To join so as to form a larger or more comprehensive entity. The boys banded
together to play a soccer game.
