Bucket

1. A cylindrical vessel used for holding or carrying liquids or solids; a pail. The pig feed went into a bucket.
2. The amount that a bucket can hold. Give the chickens a bucket of grain.
3. A unit of dry measurement in the U.S. Customary System equal to 2 pecks (17.6 liters). Two pecks make one bucket.
4. A receptacle on various machines, such as the scoop of a power shovel or the compartments on a water wheel, used to gather and convey material. We used the tractor to move two buckets of gravel to the road.
