1. A stick that people can lean on to help them walk. I used a can when hip was replaced.
2. A strong slender often flexible stem as of bamboos, reeds, rattans, or sugar cane. Sugar can is a valuable crop in the islands of the Pacific.
3. A stiff switch used to hit students as punishment. The headmaster would cane the students when they misbehaved.
