Cell

1. Any small compartment. The cells of a honeycomb contain honey and larvae.
2. The basic structural and functional unit of all organisms; cells may exist as independent units of life (as in monads) or may form colonies or tissues as in higher plants and animals. Cells can divide into two quickly.
3. A device that delivers an electric current as the result of a chemical reaction. My remote control used two AAA cells.
4. A small unit serving as the nucleus of a larger political movement. Each Communist cell has a leader.
5. Small room is which a monk or nun lives. The monk must be silent in his cell.
6. A room where a prisoner is kept. There were 2 prisoners in each cell.
