Drain
1. A conduit allowing liquid to flow out of an otherwise contained volume. We
had to work to clear the stopped up sink drain.
2. Something consuming resources and providing nothing in return. That rental
property was a drain on our finances.
3. (verb) To convert a perennially wet place to a dry one. We had to drain the
swampy land to make a parking lot.
4. (verb) To cause liquid to flow out of. Drain the bathtub after bathing.
5. (verb) To deplete of energy or resources. The stress of my job is draining
me.
