1. A broad, level, open expanse of land. They played baseball in an open field.
2. A meadow: It was a beautiful field of buttercups.
3. A cultivated expanse of land, especially one devoted to a particular crop: They planted a field of corn.
4. An area in which an athletic event takes place. The other team took to the field.
5. An area of expertise. Computers are my field of expertise.
