Gear

1. A toothed machine part, such as a wheel or cylinder, that meshes with another toothed part to transmit motion or to change speed or direction. The gear showed damage and had to be replaced.
2. A complete assembly that performs a specific function in a larger machine. A large tower clock depends on the gear assemblage.
3. Equipment, such as tools or clothing, used for a particular activity. We need to get some fishing gear before we go on our vacation.
4. Personal belongings, including clothing. Put your gear in the trunk and let's go.
