Grant

1. The act of bestowing or conferring; concession; allowance. She was able to go to college by means of a government grant.
2. The yielding or admission of something in dispute. I'll grant that you have the best idea.
3. A transfer of property deed or writing; an appropriation or conveyance made by the government; as, a grant of land or of money; also the deed or writing by which the transfer is made. Oregon State University is a land grant college.
4. An application for a grant (monetary boon to aid research or the like). The college received a research grant of a million dollars.
5. To bestow or confer, with or without compensation, particularly in answer to prayer or request; to give. He was granted a pardon by the President.
