1. Originating from or arranged by someone inside an organization. We had inside information about the scandal.
2. (baseball) A pitch that is toward the bater as it crosses home plate. He threw an inside pitch.
3. Nearer to the interior of a running track, horse racing course, etc. The inside lane can be more difficult.
4. Within or towards the interior of something, especially a building. When it started raining, I went inside.
5. Within the interior of something, closest to the center or to the specific point of reference. He placed the letter inside the envelope.
6. In prison. He's inside doing five years for burglary.
