Lane

1. A narrow passageway between fences, walls, hedges or trees. The couple walked slowly down the tree lined lane.
2. A lengthwise division or roadway intended for a single line of vehicles. It was a four-lane highway.
3. A similar division of a race track to keep runners apart. The horse ran in the number 4 lane.
4. A course designated for ships or aircraft. Do not swim in the shipping lane, it's dangerous.
