Lark

1. Any of various small. singing passerine birds of the family Alaudidae. Larks have more elaborate calls than most birds.
2. Any of various resembling birds, usually ground-living, such as the meadowlark and titlark. Larks are the only passerines that lose all their feathers in their first moult.
3. A carefree or spirited adventure. We went off that afternoon on a carefree lark in the park.
4. A harmless prank. We papered her house as a lark.
