Level
1. The same height at all places; parallel to the flat ground. Level ground
makes it easier for row irrigation.
2. At the same height as some reference. The top of each of the pictures were
at the same level.
3. Unvaried in frequency. His temperature has been at the same level for the
last 24 hours.
4. Calm. He keeps a level head even under pressure.
5. A tool for finding whether a surface is level, or for creating a horizontal
or vertical line in reference. He used the level to get the wall cabinets lined
up right.
6. Degree or amount. The sound level is too high.
7. A floor of a multi-story building. We met on the promenade level.
8. To destroy by reducing to ground surface. The earthquake leveled the
building.
9. To aim or direct (a weapon, a stare, an accusation, etc.). He leveled an
accusation of fraud.
10. (gaming) One of several discrete segments of a game generally increasing in
difficulty. I reached level seven after two weeks.
