Line

Line

1. A thin continuous mark, as that made by a pen, pencil or brush applied to a surface. He drew an line on the paper.
2. A border or boundary. He lived on the county line.
3. A rope, cable, string, cord or wire. They tied the man with a line.
4. A pipe or system of pipes for conveying a fluid or gas. A gas pipe line ran through the countryside.
5. A wire or a system of wires connection communication or electrical system. The electric line passed overhead through our back yard.
6. A passenger or cargo system of public or private transportation, as by ship, aircraft truck or bus, usually over a definite route. The local bus line ran down our street.
7. Things arranged in a row or series. There were long lines at the movie theater.
8. Merchandise or service of a similar or related nature. They carry a complete line of small tools.
9. To fit a covering to the inside of. The coat was lined with fur.
10. The combat troops or warships at the front, arranged abreast of one another. Our line held out against the enemy's assault.
