Match
1. A narrow piece, usually of wood or cardboard, coated on one end with a
compound that ignites when scratched against a rough or chemically treated
surface. He lit his cigar with a match.
2. One that is exactly like another. The two ladies had matching dresses.
3. A sports game or contest in which two or more persons, animals or teams
oppose and compete with each other. We enjoyed the soccer match between Italy
and Germany.
4. A person viewed as a prospective marriage partner. Those two were a perfect
match for each other.
