Pattern
1. A design, motif or decoration. especially formed from regular repeated
elements. It was easy to see a pattern to the mistakes.
2. Something from which a copy is made; a model of outline. We started sewing
using a dress pattern.
3. A naturally-occurring or random arrangement of shapes, colors etc. Wind on a
sand dune will leaves a rippled pattern.
4. The given spread, range etc. of shot fired from a gun. The pattern of shot
will vary in a shotgun depending on the choke used.
5. The flight path of an aircraft about to land. This is referred to as a
flight pattern.
6. A composite of traits or features characteristic of an individual or a
group. She showed a distinct pattern of behavior.
7. To make, mold, or design by following a previous set of events. She
patterned her military career after her father's.
