Platform
1. A horizontal surface raised above the level of the adjacent area. The
speaker spoke from the stage platform.
2. A place or an opportunity to express one's opinion. That talk show will
provide a platform to many ordinary people.
3. (automotive) A set of components shared by several vehicle models. Many GM
cars shared the same platform.
4. A political stance on a broad set of issues, which are called planks. The
Democratic Party voted on their 2012 platform.
5. A raised structure from which passengers can enter or leave a train. We
waited on the platform for our train to arrive.
6. A kind of high shoe with an extra layer between the inner and outer soles.
Some short ladies like to wear platform shoes.
