Point

1. Condition, state. She was not feeling well at that point.
2. A purpose or objective. I see no point in talking any more.
3. A sharp or tapered end. The knife had a sharp point at the end.
4. A mark indicating the location of the decimal. The decimal point separates the whole numbers from the fractions.
5. A place or locality considered with regard to its position. The train has connections to Chicago and all points west.
6. A significant, outstanding, or effective idea, argument, or suggestion. Your point is well taken.
7. A narrowly particularized and localized position or place. The troops were at a point roughly 1000 yards from the river.
8. To direct or aim. He pointed his pistol at the robber.
9. To indicate the position or direction. He pointed out the oldest building on the skyline.
