1. A large bag of strong, coarse material for holding objects in bulk. A similar container of paper or plastic. She put her clothes in a laundry sack.
2. The amount that such a container can hold. We gathered three sack of walnuts.
3. Football. To tackle a quarterback behind the line of scrimmage. The quarterback was sacked six times in the game.
4. The looting or pillaging of a captured town. The Vikings sacked many British towns.
