Seaman

1. A mariner or sailor. An able-bodied seaman is one who is fully trained and qualified to work on the decks and superstructure of modern ships, even during foul weather.
2. A noncommissioned rank in the U.S. Navy or Coast Guard that is above seaman apprentice and below petty officer. Seaman is the third enlisted rank from the bottom in the U.S Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps, and other navies and coast guards.
