Siren

1. A device in which compressed air or steam is driven against a rotating perforated disk to create a loud, often wailing sound as a signal or warning. The company sounds a siren to signify the end of the work day.
2. An electronic device producing a similar sound as a signal or warning. We heard a police car siren.
