1. An interval separating two points on a continuum. It's been a long time since the last war.
2. An interval, especially a span of years, marked by similar events, conditions. These are hard times since the depression.
3. One of several instances. He knocked three times with no response.
4. The rate of speed of a measured activity. The troops marched at double time.
5. A suitable or opportune moment or season. Take time to talk to your parents while they are alive.
6. Used to indicate the number of instances by which something is multiplies or divided. This tree is three times the size of that one.
7. The customary period of work. He was hired for part-time work. She was hired to work full time.
8. In music, the characteristic beat of musical rhythm. The song was played in three-quarter time.
