Cuckoo

1. A wall or shelf clock that announces the time of day with a sound imitative of a cuckoo's call and often with the emergence of a mechanical bird from a small door. Many cuckoo clocks come from the Black Forest in Germany.
2. A grayish European bird that has a characteristic two-note call. Cuckoos lay their eggs in the nests of other birds.
