Monarch

1. One who reigns over a state or territory, usually for life and by hereditary right, especially a sole and absolute ruler. Some countries have a monarch with the divine right of a king.
2. A sovereign, such as a king or an empress, often with constitutionally limited authority. Some countries have a constitutional monarch.
