Moor

Moor

1. To make fast (a vessel, for example) by means of cables, anchors, or lines: moor a ship to a dock. You must moor a dirigible to a tower. They moored the boat to the wharf.
2. To fix in place; secure. The cargo must be moored securely so it won't shift.
3. A broad area of open land, often high but poorly drained, with patches of heath and peat bogs. A cold, biting wind blew across the moor making everybody shiver.
