1. Any of various tendril-bearing plants of the genus Cucurbita, having fleshy edible fruit with a leathery rind and unisexual flowers. We enjoy both eating both summer and winter squash.
2. To beat, squeeze, or press into a pulp or a flattened mass. The elephant squashed the keeper when he sat on him.
3. To put down or suppress. The army quickly squashed the revolt.
