Asphalt
1. A brownish-black solid or semisolid mixture of bitumens obtained from native
deposits or as a petroleum byproduct, used in paving, roofing, and
waterproofing. The primary use of asphalt/bitumen is in road construction,
where it is used as the glue or binder mixed with aggregate particles to create
asphalt concrete.
