15. In general, spell out all ordinal numbers (first, second, third, etc.) that can be expressed in one or two words. A hyphenated number like twenty-first counts as one word.
a. in the twenty-first century e. the firm's one hundredth anniversary i. the Ninety-ninth Congress (in text)
b. the Fourteenth Ward f. the firm's 125th anniversary j. the Ninety-Ninth Congress (in headlines)
c. twentieth-century art g. the forty-eighth floor k. the Eighteenth Amendment
d. the 104th Congress h. the two millionth visitor to EPCOT

16. Ordinal figures are expressed as follows:
a. 1st c. 2nd b. 3rd d. 4th e. 5th f. 6th
Do not put an "abbreviation" period following the ordinal figure.

17. Ordinals that follow a person's name may be expressed in arabic or roman numerals. As a rule, use arabic numerals unless you know that the person in question prefers roman numerals.
