Danger,
the least specific, is applicable to any potentially harmful situation: There
is danger in intrigue.
Peril
is much stronger thorough its suggestion of great potential for harm and of
immediacy, or imminence, of the threat involved: must do it at your own peril.
Hazard
less forcefully suggests the threat posed by chance or something largely beyond
one's control: Beware of the hazards of the highway.
Risk
also stresses chance or uncertainty, but often from the standpoint of one who
weighs them against possible harm or loss.: You take the risk of losing your
