These verbs mean to follow something or someone taken as a model.
To
imitate
is to act like or follow a pattern or style set by another: The adults drank
their tea in a ceremonious manner, and the children imitated them. The
decorator had the wood paneling painted to imitate marble.
To
copy
is to duplicate an original as precisely as possible: tried to copy her
cultivated accent; a unit that evokes the new style of architecture without
copying.

mimic
