The Golden Water Bridges and the Tai Ho Men

The Forbidden City

The Golden Water Bridges

Within the Meridian Gate there is a square courtyard. Across the courtyard runs the Golden Water Stream, over which there are five bridges. The marble balustrades of the bridges and lining the river the river form a beautiful jade-like belt. To the north of the bridges is the imposing Tai Ho Men (Gate of Supreme Harmony), which was rebuilt in 1646 (3rd year of Ching Emperor Shin Chih's reign).
