5. Bernice Directs the Foreigners Singing

This is the Chinese Christian Church we attended in Chengdu in 1984-5 and in 1987-88. Peng Yanbo took this picture in 1987. The National Television Service wanted to televise the Christmas Church service in Chengdu in 1987. The Church asked the foreigners to sing some Christmas carols for the Broadcast. Bernice agreed to be the director and we had some practices. Here we are on the day of the broadcast on Christmas Eve. Bernice was concerned that we were not exactly following her direction and we weren't. What she didn't know was that the TV people had very bright lights in back of her and we could not even see her for the bright lights. Everyone survived, however.
