10. Nolls at Church

In 1998, the Xinzheng Church reserved the front row of the Church for the foreigners complete with a table and hot tea for us. There was no heat in the Church. Often the temperature was about 26 degrees. The sanctuary holds about 1,500 and usually with every seat occupied. Also there are perhaps 200 outside. The men sit on the far right; the ladies sit in the center and to the left. Men and women do not sit together. They practice singing the hymns for an hour before the regular service. In 2002, the inside of the Church is being rebuilt. Windows are being installed, the ceiling is being furred, and paneling installed. The Pastor asked the workmen to halt work during the service.
