2. Greenhouses

This rural cooperative has gone into year-round vegetable growing. There are about ten of these large greenhouses. The weather is warm at the time of the picture taking and so they have opened a seam in the plastic. Note the rolls of bamboo matting on the roof. When the weather gets very cold in the winter they lower the rolls of bamboo to better conserve the heat. Heating is done by burning coal. The ribs of the greenhouse are made of metal.
