Chinese Agricultural and Rural Scenes 26. Silk Cocoons Some of the rural cooperatives grow silkworms. Here a worker in the cooperative hauls the cocoons off to the marketplace to be sold to a factory to produce silk thread, the next step in the production of silk goods. In 1984-8 we could buy good silk cloth for very good prices and we did. In later years the infrastructure had improved and it all went off to foreign markets to earn foreign hard currencies.
