Free Market

Private Businesses in China

4. Free Market

This city has built a long shed about 3 blocks long which anyone can rent space. All are free enterprise stands selling what ever they think people will buy. The mix of what is for sale varies from time to time. We bought about 20 silk scarves for about a dollar each. Two weeks later there were no scarves. They sell food, bedding, clothing, tailors, belts, furniture, shoes, and many other things. We often stroll through after Church to see what is for sale. Everyone stares at you but you get used to it. The Chinese call it a "Free Market." Free meaning "free enterprise."
