8. Foreign Resident Permit Cover

Every foreigner working in China, that is a person with a Z visa, must have a document showing that they are allowed to live in China. This is the cover of a "Foreign Resident Permit." The law requires a foreign resident to undertake some medical tests. A complete medical checkup is required to get this permit. Blood tests including HIV, X-ray of chest, and other are required. Some units pay for these tests and others charge you. We paid 300 Yuan for one such set of tests, about $37 US.
