Emperor Qin Shihuang - Scene 8 In a quest to celebrate his political and military power after his death, and to replicate his world in an attempt to achieve immortality, Emperor Chin built the largest unopened tomb in history. It is as big as the Egyptian pyramid at Giza, with the emperor's body said to be surrounded by rivers of liquid mercury, and guarded by the Terracotta Army, allowing the Emperor to exist forever in an enclosed world representing his vast empire. The production team on "The First Emperor" worked with Dr. Jeffrey Riegel, Professor of Chinese at the University of California, to investigate the emperor's resting place. |
