Our 2008 China Eclipse Trip - Page 36

Crescent Moon Pool

Crescent Moon Spring is 6km south of Dunhuang in the Singing Sands Mountains and is quite literally an oasis in the desert. The Spring's name derives from the crescent moon shape the small pool of spring water has taken between two large sand dunes. Although the area is very dry, the pool doesn't dry up as one might expect.

After our tour of the Mogao Grottos, we will check in to our hotel and relax during the hottest part of the day. In the late afternoon we will take a tour of Min Sha Hill and the Crescent Moon Pool, where we will have the opportunity to ride Bactrian camels over the sand dunes. This evening, we will enjoy dinner and a cultural show at the hotel. We will overnight: Silk Road Dunhuang Hotel.
