Scenes from City of Dali 13. Bernice Bargains for a Bai Outfit When our tour boat stopped at one of the islands in Erhai Lake we went ashore to see the sights. Many local natives had set up shops to sell to the tourists. We seemed to be the only foreigners aboard this boat. We stopped at this shop selling Bai nationality clothing. I asked Bernice to try on one of the outfits and she willingly obliged. The saleslady fitted her with this outfit. The stated price was 600 Yuan; this is about $72 US. We felt it was too high. Bernice took off the outfit and we started to leave. They came running after us with lower prices. We kept going and the further we went the lower the price became. When the price got down to 180 Yuan ($21 US) we gave them our money and just made it back to the ship just in time. I think the outfit looks good on her. We bought a lot of minority nationality outfits while in China. Hi-Res Pic (144K)⇦ Back to Page 12 On to Page 14 ⇨ Return to Dali - Page 2 |
