Visit to Lewis Ke Family, Countryside
12. Greeted at the Ke Family Home This is a scene in the living room of the Lewis Ke house. They had prepared a feast for us. There were many kinds of fruit, apples pears, grapes, and oranges waiting for us. We were treated like kings. They are serving us tea. Offering tea to Mr. Sun is Lewis's father. You can see on the wall a poster of Chairman Mao. No matter what you may think of Chairman Mao, he is a real hero to the peasants. He freed them from the tyranny of the landlords who kept them in poverty with never any land of their own. Mao changed the world for the peasants of China who had suffered so much under so many invading armies. While Mao made mistakes, he is a hero to the 80% of China, the poor peasants who have never had a world so good and free for them. It is a great honor for a peasant village to have foreign visitors. It is even a greater honor for us to be their guests. Hi-Res Pic (136K)⇦ Back to Page 11 On to Page 13 ⇨ Return to Lewis Ke Family Page 2 |
