15. The Shilin Electric Company

During our visit they invited us to tour the Shilin Electric Company. Sam's Uncle works there as a manager. The company does about $40 million dollars business a year. They make incandescent and fluorescent bulbs for Europe and the United States. It shows the industrial progress China has made when you view the impressive row of motorcycles and motorbikes parked in front of the factory. Safety has become an important part of China's industrial empire, an improvement over some of the past practices. Across the street another factory of the Shilin Group makes cotton garments. These two factories employ thousands of people from a province on the lower end of the economic scale in China.
