13. A Formal Dinner at Sam's House

Sam takes our picture as we enjoy a fine home-cooked dinner in the Yu family house. We had about 12 dishes to sample from. I say sample because by Chinese standards of cooking, you must have about five times more food than anybody can eat. Part of the ritual requires you to sample all the dishes but not finish any of them. The family showed us so much kindness and love we felt quite at home with them. Everyone took so much concern for our well-being and comfort to make us feel at home.
