5. Our Hotel in Huoshan

Sam's family put us up in this hotel for our stay in Huoshan. The hotel rarely has foreign guests and it showed. Few spoke English but you learn to smile and use hand gestures to accomplish what you need to get done. The room was pleasant and well equipped. We had two air conditioners in our room, a TV and twin beds. Chinese TV tends to have lots of talking heads on many shows. Next they have some quiz shows with contestants winning prizes. Last and most enjoyable for us, Chinese Opera. After a few days we needed to have some clothes washed but the laundry slip had few things we had to wash. Finally they said just give them and we will wash them without a slip. We ate breakfast there each morning, eggs boiled in tea, rice gruel, rice. steamed bread and hot milk.
