20. Construction of a Dai House

We watched them work on building a new house. It was entirely built of wood. The area has a great deal of wooded areas. The lumber is hand sawn into dimensional lumber for use in the construction. It was the first area in China that we saw houses made of wood. Most of China uses fired bricks, mud bricks or concrete. This type of construction fascinated me.
