3. Xuchang Freeway

Here we drive along the freeway (actually a toll road) on the way to Xuchang. Several things about Chinese freeways. First the freeway has mostly large trucks, hopelessly over loaded. This contributes to excessive wear on the road surface. Second speed seems to be somewhat ignored. We once rode down this same freeway on a visit to a student and I noted we went at speeds of 120 MPH. The signage in international symbols can be seen often along the road. Sometimes the English used can be somewhat quaint.
