33. Yangzi River Locks

This is the lock that is currently on the Yangzi River. Many people come to watch the boats as they navigate the locks. After the locks the river widens out considerably. At places it is several miles wide with levees on both sides. In Anhui Province in 1998, the floods affected some 15 million people causing an economic loss estimated at 13 Billion Yuan. They see the new dam as a blessing. We spent several hours going through the locks.
