This boat is powered by twenty men with one steering with a long steering rudder and one man on a drum beating the cadence. Note that there is very little freeboard. It doesn't take much to swamp on of these boats. You can also see many of the barges on the other side of the river. Most of the common people have to watch from the riverbank.
