Beijing Opera - "The Capture of Jinling"

Mu Ying with a yellow broken-flower face plays a role in the list-opera "The Capture of Jinling," based on a story in "The Lives of Heroes and Martyrs," a Ming dynasty historical novel that begins with the downfall of the incompetent Yuan emperor Shundi in 1328 and ends with the establishment of the Ming dynasty by Zhu Yuanzhang. The list-opera tells how Zhu Yuanzhang attacked and captured Jinling (now Nanjing). Mu Ying was one of his generals.
