Opera "The Race of the Bamboo Grove"

Yu Hong with a black broken-flower face stars in "The Race of the Bamboo Grove," adapted from a story in "Three Expeditions Against the Southern Tang." Yu Hong was a Southern Tang general. In the opera he captures a Song general by witchcraft, but Liu Jinding, a woman warrior of the Song, sets fire to the bamboo grove in which he is hiding and forces him to flee.
