Liu Tang with a bottle gourd blue-cross face plays a character in the opera "Xunyang Tower." Song Jiang, while drinking in Xunyang Tower, takes up a brush and writes a rebellious poem on the wall. A spy reports this to the authorities, who arrest Song Jiang and sentence him to death. Liu Tang and other outlaws storm the execution ground and rescue Song Jiang, who is persuaded to join the outlaws on Mount Liangshan.
